A leading company in the labelling industry faced challenges with handling heavy rolls of film that tended to telescope during transfer from the pallet to the processing line. In response, our engineering team developed a bespoke clamping vertical spindle attachment designed to deliver precision handling with powered clamping and rotation.

The customer’s operations were hampered by reels that could mis-align or shift during movement, particularly in confined spaces with narrow aisles and limited manoeuvrability. Manual handling not only increased the risk of damage but also raised safety concerns for operators. The need for a robust solution that could secure reels in both horizontal and vertical orientations became evident.

• Versatile Orientation Handling: The attachment is engineered to handle rolls in both horizontal and vertical positions, ensuring flexibility during different stages of the process.
• Geared Clamping and Powered/Geared Rotation: A geared clamping mechanism minimises manual handling. The powered rotation allows seamless movement between orientations. Optional geared rotation is also available.
• Secure Grip: The system employs a single clamping arm fitted with nitrile rubber pads, which, along with a core gripping mechanism, ensures that the reel remains firmly secured throughout operation.
• High Lifting Capacity: With a lifting capacity of up to 200kg (440lbs), the attachment is robust enough to handle heavy reels without compromising safety or performance.
• Durable and Hygienic Construction: Constructed from stainless steel, this solution is not only durable but also ideal for clean room environments, making it a perfect fit for industries with strict hygiene standards.
