Packline were one of the only companies to take an enquiry from Lapland seriously, direct from Santa's Grotto came a request to assist with a lifting and handling problem.
After a recent visit from Elf & Safety, Santa had to find a suitable solution for lifting sacks of toys onto the back of his sleigh.
The design brief was left fairly flexible with only on a couple of main constraints the handle bars needed to be designed as antlers to meet with the reindeers approval and Santa helpers insisted that the main construction was painted seasonal red.
Packline's development team decided to base the design on the company's standard range of Compac stainless steel mobile lifters and with a few minor alterations which included replacing the lifters castors with ski blades and insulating the main control cabinet to protect against the weather conditions.
The sack lifting attachment was itself unique with the final design resulting in an articulating mechanical hand arrangement suitable for securely gripping the neck of the sack prior to lifting and positioning safely onto the back of the sleigh.
Chris Baker Managing Director said "Although Packline specialise in providing bespoke lifting and handling solutions this was one of the company's more challenging projects" he added "It was a relief once the design was completed and signed off after field trials".
He went on to say "I am pleased we took on this unusual project and I am sure there will undoubtedly be those sceptics that may find this article farfetched; all I can say to them is humbug and to everybody else :-
