Packline Gives Top Motor Company a Lift

 14 Mar 2006

Every Rolls-Royce Phantom is hand-built to customer order at the company's head office and manufacturing plant in Goodwood, West Sussex.  Even the wheels are carefully lifted, positioned and bolted on by hand.

Working closely with engineers at Goodwood, Dorset-based manufacturer Packline have developed a custom-built lifting/positioning solution for the legendary car manufacturer. The product lifts the wheels and also positions them for increased speed and accuracy when hand-bolting them to the wheel hub.

Paul Winter of Packline, said:  "We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious company. Not only did Packline have to convince Rolls-Royce Motor Cars of our own engineering quality, we also had to take our supporting documentation and operation manual to another level. This has now become our own standard".

Packline's relationship with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars also extends to assembly planning, with another unique lifting application.  A harness lifter was developed to allow the manoeuvre and positioning of special kit bags containing the Phantom's electrical system.  Particular care was taken to ensure that the product could not damage expensive bodywork in the operation.
